I recently acquired some cutters, or irons, for the Stanley No. 45 combination plane. Fortunately, the labels on the box were still present and readable. The set actually came in two boxes that a previous owner had combined into one by nailing and gluing them together.
I looked online to see if there were better representations of these labels—I was wondering how delicate I needed to be with them, and how protective I should get. I’m also considering building a custom box or drawer for the plane and its parts, and I really enjoy having the original label visible as part of the display.
In my search, I found some graphic files of Stanley labels out there, but none that matched this specific set. Here are some photos of my labels, along with links to label files I could find online. My goal is to recreate clean graphic files for printing. I’ve experimented a bit with free AI restoration tools, but it’s still a work in progress. Stay tuned…
